If you’d enjoy a spin off of the Edward Mordake case/story than this is it. I unfortunately found it to be predictable at every turn with a un-matching soundtrack, both in selection and timing. The script seemed generic resulting in drawn out scenes of attempted suspense and hopes to build anticipation. I don’t mind a film that leaves details for you to decipher but this had so many unexplained scenes that were, in my opinion, crucial to understanding the movie. The fact that I could almost finish half of all sentences early in the film proved its lack of originality. This was a unforgiving mix of many low rated thrillers. The aesthetic was confusing as well, not sure if that was intentional or just lazy. The sets are loaded with vintage flare, giving the audience a sense of comfort due to nostalgia, which we all love, but keeping it known that it is still present day. The characters make all the obvious and wrong moves… walking towards the danger, ignoring the physical proof of a home invader, police not following obvious trails, etc. I’ll admit I was fooled by the trailer and advertising of this movie, it looked like it was going to be great and that’s possibly because I held it to a high standard. I gave this film 2 stars for lack of a quality script, the poor acting, obvious reused material from other low budget movies and the AWFUL timing and choice of soundtrack.
