This book hit every single point I was looking for: phenomenal characters, intensity, suspense, a mysterious world, and humor. Not only that, I could NOT put the book down. The relationship between the main characters made the story feel even more real, and I was very impressed with character development for everyone in the book. The way blood and soul magic contrasted yet complimented each other kept me on my toes. Reading about the world was equally as intriguing; the writing immerses you into the Twin Cities. I felt like I was experiencing everything with Sivrehya and Ivar. From the iridescent colors of the cities, the customs of the people outside their kingdoms- it was all so real. Sivrehya and Ivar are now on the list of my top favorite characters in existence, and I can't wait for more. It's going to be a long few months until the second book, but so worth it.
