“Me, Myself and My Amygdala” is highly entertaining! It's not your typical dry, overly academic narrative on anxiety, substance use and mental disorder. The science behind them is explained. However, this book is chock-full of anecdotal, funny and memorable metaphors and analogies that explain how and why our toxic thinking exist and strategies we can use to move pass these limiting thoughts. Dr. Ackerman infuses his writing with levity and a determination to have you thinking differently about how you been thinking. I've learned how to separate useful thoughts from useless ones. It has helped me get a handle on my anger and negativity. I would highly recommend it to anyone dealing with anger, anxiety, depression, substance use, or reoccurring mental disorders. Also makes a thoughtful gift to family or friends suffering with these issues.
