I really liked the show. It gave me an insight into what people actually go through when incarcerated. Sure you hear the stories but you can see for yourself just how broken the system really is and how unqualified some of the guards really are. Being there to only collect a paycheck and turning a blind eye to the basic needs of the inmates shows just how accountable they are for people not getting the rehabilitation they need to become better people upon their release. Any job worth doing is worth doing well. Some of the female guards I think we're the worst. They seems to be on a power trip. I understand the importance of maintaining your authority but I feel like some abused theirs and that doesn't help anyone and only perpetuates the dislike for officers. I am no bleeding heart but the way the inmates were treated won't help them to be better citizens and does nothing for society as a whole when they are released. Animals are treated better than how the inmates are treated. I seen no help for the inmates as to gain a better outlook on life to want to do and be better. The jails need more structure and resources to give these people more to do than sit around and go crazy in their own heads. It is not a one size fits all. You have some who can handle it and others who slip through the cracks and I feel a lot of it is because of the guards disregard for the inmates basic human rights. Yes you lose rights in jail but no person should lose the basic rights.
