There's a lot of assumptions to the 'skill' or reasons why people vote one star on this game. Let me be clear.
The quests are all tedious. If you want scav kills for a quest you're going to have to run into spawns the moment you load in. Otherwise you're competing with map wipers / hackers for a few to none every raid if you're playing cautiously.
The people who play the game have all likely experienced being shot in the throat with a 5.56x45mm that is utterly silent from a position in which no soul could of known you were there. I happened to survive the first and likely my last time surviving an encounter like that just recently.
You go to the forums to complain about a player scav hacker or a ballsy PMC hacker, and most of the community will bat at their chests with their fists. Without firsthand knowledge of the situation that had even transpired, and then repeatedly go down on their throbbing peen with, "They may have just been very good." Okay, Devil's Advocate.
--- I have heard quite a few stories about stutters, disconnections, etc. The one thing any potential buyer should be aware of is... it's pay to win when it comes to your computer software. ---
When it comes to Hunt: Showdown, or COD (Yes, Tarkov is not these games... I know.) the server starts the game once everyone connects. In Tarkov? That's not the case at all. You could be stuck loading into your match for 6 - 10 minutes, and start a raid that's already hit 44 - 48 minutes left out of 60. This time stuck loading alone could leave you very well picking loot off the bodies scattered to your extract. Heavily limiting the available SCAVS for quests, as well as any sort of locked room loot that other players run from spawn to.
As for the gameplay though, whether you're a rat, a SWF, or 'Chad' is honestly still entertaining. (Outside of labs, as uuhh... good luck getting a fair game in that hackers paradise.) I've had several moments where I was ambushed and still managed to kill a fully kitted PMC.
There's a lot of diehard fans of this game, and even I can attest that I really enjoy the offline aspect. It allows me to use guns I hadn't tried, as well as practice my aim. I can loot and kill people knowing I won't be bottomed by some basic loser who purchases monthly subscriptions of a hacking software just to kill, level, and loot in a game where it's honestly currently utterly worthless to progress in. (About every maybe 3-6 months there's a total account wipe.)
Also, as for a new addition to the latest wipe... the map changes they made to Customs was actually VERY well done. Opened a few paths up for players who would always get stuck going through a certain way. As well as making it less rewarding for campers to chill at the old maps literal 2 roads to travel on
All in all... people just like the hype of a 'realistic' survival shooter. Most people I know have played this several times and then stopped completely. I have tended to come back to play a few days every new wipe to see the differences. Beyond playing offline when there's nobody else to play a different game with.
