Binge watched this. Woohoo quarantine! I got lost in season 3 myself. John starts to have memory gaps and I couldn't piece together what a couple characters introduced had to do with the plot line- without giving it away, it seemed that the religious symbolism and supernatural events were tried and then abruptly abandoned over the course of a few episodes.
I grew to hate John, myself. In the end, he confessed his sins to someone that he knew wouldnt absolve him. It was a cop out. No pun intended. He was the ultimate puppet master. The worst of the worst. Under the guise of "protecting" the family, he only meant to ever protect himself and as a result abused the trust of those around him, leaving a barren and broken foundation of "family" as he pursued his agendas. He wasnt alone, just the worst of them from the perspective of the show. IMO
It was addicting to watch!
