First, let me say that if you like the books, don't bother with the TV show. It's vaguely similar, but the numerous major plot changes through the first season/book that will leave you cringing. *SPOILERS AHEAD* Gateways, swearing extra oaths on the oath rods as punishment, Perrin killing his own wife, morraine's exile, waygates using the one power, and scores of other decisions will leave you wondering if the producer even read the source material. *SPOILERS OVER*
That said, the production value and acting are both pretty good. If you didn't already know the story, the story (minus the usually lazy shortcuts TV writing is known for) is pretty good. Unfortunately for Wheel of Time the tv series, this show will be compared to Wheel of Time the book series, and in that comparison it feels shallow, hollow, rushed, and in several places panders unabashedly to the detriment of the story as a whole.
