It was longggg, but Malick sets a tone that really makes one think. Franz's dilemma could be what we all face, probably not in such life and death matters but certainly in our moral decisions. I was somewhat impatient with how long it was drawn out but I think that this slow pace allows us to really think about who we are and what our values are. If you have an open mind and are willing to test your stamina I recommend this movie. And most of Malick's earlier work deserves that same kind of attention.
