I bought this movie and tried to watch it several times but just can't get through it. I would end up texting, searching the net or clipping my toenails and was easily pulled away from the plot. I thought that I was just distracted but then I realized that I just wasn't interested in it. So I sat down and tried to breakdown the reasons. First, I love action movies and love sci-fi and like Dwayne Johnson so what's the issue? I'll start with the acting . The rock plays this with a matter of fact straight forward angry and nothing else. The anti-hero not giving much in the way of personality. The problem wasnt the rock but the writing. He had to play it the way it was written and the writting didnt allow him to play the character any other way. Qt first it's OK, but like having steak as every course , in a seven course meal you want something else that it just doesn't deliver. I just didn't care. I didn't care about Black Adam and didn't care about his fight, I didn't care about the kid he was partly fighting for or the mother of that child. In fact there was very little in this movie that drew you into wanting to see the plot build and because of that you could hardly cared where it went as well. Even Black Adam's team of other super hearos were flat. All they cared about was that Black Adam was killing to many people with the usual jokes in that line. The character that changed size seemed alot like ant-man even playing it the same way as Paul Rud. Plays it. It gave that aspect of the movie a , already seen that. I'm not sure what they were thinking because first off you have this middle eastern country that is oppressed by, what seems to be, Americans. This poor people need a champion to save them from the evil war mongers? Not something that resonated with me. So what was good. The cinematography was good with good special effects, not great. If Dwayne Johnson and the other actors weren't in this and it was unknown or not as gifted actors it would have been a bit better than a B movie. It could have squeaked by with three stars for those reasons but anything above that would make me think that the person works for the studio.
