An average movie. Not worth the hype. Still watchable in parts. Coming to the positives , Cinematography deserves special mention, capturing the right mood.Songs and bgm are good. Child actors done a convincing performance. The childhood romance has been potrayed very beautifully. Negatives , Spoilers Ahead. Both Ram and Janaki characterizations are underdeveloped , both of them still seems immature even at their end of 30's. Janu in the beginning of movie is portrayed as an assertive, pretty lass with talent for singing, Ram on the otherhand is quite the opposite, shy and introverted. But their actions doesnt justify so. Janu, is courageous enough to express her love for Ram, but she doesnt have the guts to ask her class mates about wherabouts of Ram once he changes school, nor she makes a honest effort to find him out. Ram though introverted, once he got rejected by Janu, still have to courage to go to Thanjavur all the way from Madras, and doing macho things like beating up a stalker of Janu. Coming to present day reunion, both Janu and Ram hasnt matured yet. Ram saying he is still at the same place where he left Janu. But I felt like Janu is on same boat, even though married and mother. Her character has no depth , even though the mother of 10 year old or so, she cant find happiness from her own married life, she wants a memory of 10th standard Ramachandran to make her happy when she feels moody. Janu is all in praise of Ram almost saying he is god like. I didnt find anything praise worthy of Ram, as he is wasting his life over a women who is married now and has kids. If both Ram and Janu had ever been in true love, they would have got married. True love breaks all barriers and shortcomings of eachother. Their love was just been a teenage infactuation or just timepass. The whole movie gives a wrong message to never let go of past failures and stock up the painful memories into a suit case and never move on ,wasting whole life and futher glorifying it saying true love.
