Bunny Reviewed- Murder Mubarak "Murder Mubarak" helmed by the esteemed director Homi Adajania and recently debuted on Netflix, embodies the essence of a slow-burning crime thriller. However, regrettably, my viewing experience was marred by intermittent bouts of ennui. Despite boasting a constellation of talented actors and a premise rife with suspense, the film fails to captivate its audience adequately. The direction and screenplay exhibit competence, albeit without the vigor requisite to engross the viewers fully. One of the primary shortcomings lies in the portrayal of characters; the performers appear disengaged, merely going through the motions rather than embodying their roles with conviction. Moreover, the proliferation of characters complicates an already convoluted narrative, exacerbating the tedium for the audience. Numerous loopholes further detract from the film's coherence, culminating in a climax so foreseeable that my brother and I discerned the identity of the perpetrator halfway through the runtime. In hindsight, I opine that the producers would have been better served diverting resources from the expansive ensemble cast towards refining the screenplay. In summation, I bestow upon "Murder Mubarak" a lackluster rating of 1.8 out of 5 stars, lamenting its failure to realize its full potential and deliver a truly engaging cinematic experience. For a more captivating murder mystery experience, I highly recommend indulging in the cinematic intrigue of "36 China Town," should it have eluded your attention thus far.

Bunny Reviewed- गहराईयां- An Amazon Prime Movie ✨ There was ek main aur ekk tu. Then there was Kapoor & sons. And then there is, Gehraiyaan, sitting somewhere in the middle of these two, more inclined towards the latter one though, and all directed by, Shakun Batra ✨ This movie definitely was on top of my watch list since I watched the trailer & if you'll ask me if I liked it, I'd say definitely yes, and, did I love it? Maybe yes, but, would I watch it again? Maybe no, considering the runtime and the climax thrill that couldn't be relived again! Gehraiyaan begins when two cousins (Deepika & Ananya) reconnect after years on a trip to Alibaug with their partners and then we're all aware how story unfolds. Two people who felt trapped in their relationships try to find out comfort in eachother's company but, for how long that comfort actually lasts and, was it actually worthy of putting the years of efforts at risk is what the movie is mostly all about. I said mostly because that's not the only thing Gehraiyaan focuses on. This is a movie about a few things actually; the intricacies of modern-day relationships in a world of businesses and ethics. Startups and investor funding. One-income couples and power play in relationships. Generational wealth. Mental health and addictions. Family secrets and how hard they are to bottle up, especially when kids grow up. And to pack up all these factors in a 2 hours & 10 mins movie itself would have been a challenge and I commend Shakun for the honesty he maintained throughout this movie while ensuring that none of the shades lack the tint. This is not a manual to life. He is not telling you what is wrong or what is right. He is only showing you people in different scenarios and how differently they act if certain variables change. Or better yet, how internal and external pressure influences them. And tbh, this is how lives are actually unfolding in today's society we're living in. I don't think the level of our lives' complexities can be better depicted than done in this movie. I've never seen such a perfect feat of foolishness, insecurity, anger, anxiety, fear, inferiority, and sacrifices in the Bollywood space. The story has been crafted quite beautifully and tells you it isn't just about lust or cheating but how we humans are a very complex race; emotionally. While the movie may not tell you how best to fix the problems in your life but it'll surely intimate you how it feels to live one miserably. The characters are not just raw but extremely relatable as well. There are instances when I was able to put myself into the shoes of Deepika or Siddhant or even Dhairya. And they all did a fantastic job as well except for Ananya. There was not much happening with her character plus I'm still trying to figure out why exactly she was casted for the role of Tia when anyone could have done what she did, or maybe in a better way. If I have to sum up my review in a line, I'd say Gehraiyaan is dark, messed up & complicated, just like our lives, yet, it keeps you on the edge and stays with you, right till the end, or maybe even after that, and that's why I'm giving Shakun Batra's GEHRAIYAAN 3.7 out of 5 Stars ✨

BUNNY REVIEWED- The Undoing ✨ (An HBO Miniseries) When the early reviews of this show by the so called "professional critics" hit the internet 4-5 weeks back, for someone like me who's just watched the trailer of it and kinda liked it, wondered, what's exactly could it be, that these professional critics not like in this series? And then I started watching it & surprisingly loved it. Although after watching the last episode of this series earlier today, I've decided to lower my rating from a 4.2 to a 3.7 and here's why. All aspects of the series were excellent - except for the overarching character development that fell apart towards the last few episodes. The series was artistically a pleasure to consume - but, the story did not lend itself to taking advantage of the high quality skills of the actors, directors, editors, etc. available to it. The basic idea of the script was good - but, In my opinion, the script should not have been used as it was written. If I had read it in pre-production, I would have thought it needed a substantial re-write. But that's the only thing that I'd like to change about it, that's all. Rest of the things are perfect. The acting and directing are excellent. There is nothing not to like about it. After finishing it up today, I read a couple dozen professional reviews trying to figure out what I was missing and then finally, I did see the pattern. There is a large contingent of professional critics who have a personal agenda they bring to their work. In this case, The Undoing is an example of wealthy-pretty-people-with-problems and they are going to not like the series on that basis alone. I can't object to any individual not liking a series because it does not fit their requirements for entertainment. I completely accept that. I have been thinking about this issue for the last 3 or 4 years and I think we have arrived at a point where people will say they do not like attractive/rich people and therefore they will not like entertainment associated with rich/attractive people. Though I'm not sure where I go with this understanding. I value the opinions of professionals but sometimes they also need to ease it up a bit & try not to 'fit in' their usual propaganda spreading culture everywhere. Having said that, except for a few flaws, I really loved this 6 episodes long miniseries & wish that they'll get Nicole Kidman in another projects like this asap. It's always a delight to see her do magic on the screens! I'm going with 3.7 out of 5 Stars ✨

BUNNY REVIEWED- A SUITABLE BOY ✨ I've had two reasons to watch this series- first being, it is based on the novel written by Vikram Seth by the same title which is one of those big books I always said I’d read but sadly never have because of it's mammoth size and secondly; many shots have been filmed in my birth town; Maheshwar so I was kinda excited for this. Well anyway, here I'm, with my review, after the 6 hour long ride of Bingé ✨ Mira Nair's A Suitable Boy is a multi-family and political epic set in India just after partition. I was as much anticipating it as anyone, because it’s always interesting to see what they’ve done with the big book you haven’t read. And my conclusion? As this is, for the most part, bland and stilted and timid and clumsy and rather ordinary, I just don’t think it’s as good as the book I haven’t read. The biggest disappointment was apparent from the off, when it became clear that the production had mistakenly, in my opinion, opted for an almost drifted approach to language. The cast is all Indian, but instead of speaking Urdu or Hindi to each other, they speak heavily accented English & this lack of naturalism undermined believability throughout. As produced by & for BBC1, this series serves our culture in a very Britishized (I know that's not a word but you got it, right?) way which at many points feels unrealistic & dissociated. The narrative focus of this series is split between two characters, both living in families which are united by marriage. Lata played by Tanya Maniktala is a student determined not to let her traditional mother choose her husband and therefore her future, while her new brother-in-law Maan played by Ishaan Khatter is rebellious in a different way, embarrassing his politically connected family and courting public scandal by falling for Tabu who's portraying a ghazal singer Saeeda Begum & is considerably older than him. Netflix is known for its Hinduphobic content & you see major glimpses of the same in this series whether it's about the love jihad connection or the construction of Shiva temple next to a mosque. The star cast of this series is large and exciting & I guess everyone's done justice to the characters they've portrayed. From Tanya to Tabu, and Ishaan to Ram Kapoor, Rasika Duggal & Randeep Hooda, everyone felt pretty likable throughout the screentime they've had. Well, It’s undeniably a net positive that A Suitable Boy exists, although many Indians, just like me, might not be able to see themselves represented in this miniseries in any relatable way although for a one time watch & for the sake of Vikram Seth, I'd recommend it to give it a try at least once because it's not that terrible as well. I'm going with 2.4 out of 5 Stars ✨

The Devil All the Time reminded me a lot of "The Place Between the Pines" but darker and more violent. It's a story that tells mirroring story arches of a father (Bill Skarsgard) and his son (Tom Holland). A story of multiple generations impacted by violence in the heartland of America. It chronicles how faith and evil often intertwine through the years as men of the cloth commit heinous crimes and their allegedly loyal flock confuse issues of life and death. This film is dark and twisted and certainly will not win any award for "Feel Good Movie of the Year" and is more of a character study. Every scene feels weighted with thematic or narrative importance. Sometimes I just wanted the movie to breathe, to capture life instead of pushing forward through so much death. It’s a lot, and it sometimes struggles to overcome its misery. And yet there’s so much to like within that struggle. There are strong performances throughout, even ones that aren’t allowed a lot of screen time. Skarsgard especially steals the show but Harry Melling is also surprisingly superb. I say "surprisingly" only because I have not seen him since his turn as Dudley in the Harry Potter franchise and was not aware how talented of an actor he is. Jason Clarke and Sebastian Stan also put in great work. Tom Holland gives what I'd easily consider to be his best and most mature performance to date, for once finally shedding his Spider-Man image. And then there’s Pattinson, who will be the divisive performance of the movie in that he seems to be approaching the whole project more from a camp perspective than the rest of the ensemble. I deem this movie to be more of a cult classic than a hit with the general public or even critics; from its dark subject matter to slow-burn pacing and lastly its ambiguity it will not draw in a large crowd. But those who are drawn in just might become obsessed with this movie. I'm going with 3.8 out of 5 Stars✨

The look of the show is solid. The whole series is well-cast, smartly-structured, perfectly directed and nicely paced. From the sets to the costumes, and the effects, everything about this show is great & the fighting sequences are incredibly insane especially the first fight Geralt gets into. It is is beautifully savage. The blend of swordplay and Geralt's signs are perfection. You'll definitely find yourself in for a treat if you're a fan of action packed sequences. A classic combination of nail biting scary moments & fantastic direction! Story was fresh but a few elements were kinda predictable! There were moments where I wanted to skip a few seconds but then, there were those moments as well where I was sitting on the edge of the seat! Also, I really liked the way the message was delivered in the end! Radhika Apte was brilliant as usual! Overall; a crisp, compact & worth a watch mini-series! I'm going with 2.8 out of 5 Stars!
