Great game. Core mechanics, combat and gameplay are fluent and satisfying 8/10 (Nothing can beat Guild Wars 2 in this department).
Graphics 9/10 I play in 4k on PS5, it looks really good and runs like a dream (On PS4 its too laggy for my liking).
Lore, story, interesting quests and full voice acting. You can't really go wrong with D&D. 10/10.
Build complexity and progression 8/10 is relatively linear in terms of path selection (You basically get two paths to choose from per class) but in all fairness this game adopted the 'holy trinity' model (DPS, Tank, Healer) from the get go so it makes complete sense otherwise group content would be imbalanced. When it comes to gear and trinkets, there are TONS of different items/options that can strengthen and optimize your character for a more hand tailored feel. My only gripe with 'gear' is the steep learning curve with how important mounts and companions are and the lack of in game explanation there of. Both of these are actually extensions of your character's gear and overall item level, they are not just entities that journey alongside you. Youtube is your friend here once again. That being said, mounts, companions and their individual level and gear (you can upgrade the quality of the mounts and companions which directly affects your overall item level), gives the game a more lateral feel in terms of overall item level progression.
Grind Level - High to Very High. I won't lie, to get high end gear in all departments will take you months maybe longer - which I guess is how it is meant to be. Some of us more casual players simply don't have that type of time to invest which brings me to my next point
Pay To Win. The game is free, but some of the higher end gear can be bought on the Auction House for Astral Diamonds. Astral Diamonds can be acquired by converting from Zen currency, and Zen can be bought directly from "ye olde credit card" on the storefront. There are however certain top tier gear, specific armor, weapons and other items that can ONLY be acquired by playing the game. In a nutshell, more casual players are able to get some powerful gear by using the CC, but gear that will only allow them to be able to survive in the current end game meta. The highest level gear can only be attained by the proverbial grind. So, no the game is not 100% P2W like some have mentioned in other reviews.
Overall 8.5/10. Best MMO on console atm. I played Final Fantasy for a few months and just couldn't get over how boring and bland the combat was. So if you are looking for a fantasy based MMO on console, this is the one.
