Im really sad to give a 1 star review.
I have to give credit where its due, this is the first detective batman story thats hit the big screen that truly felt like a detective batman.
But thats as far as it goes.
From the force fed “woke” additions to the script, to the left behind plot details, it was just lackluster. It was more in line with a super high budget fan film than a real production.
Spoiler alert ahead:
-Robert Pattinson does an interesting job playing batman but a really poor job playing bruce wayne. Bruce has always been a playboy philanthropist but in this movie hes literally a moody quiet rich loner.
-Alfred is more of a secretary than a butler for bruce
-Anna is introduced as a love interest for catwoman over the course of 30 seconds before she gets whisked off for the plot to kill her off screen as a method of trying to get the audience to sympathize for catwoman
-In the finale, batman watches as bombs destroy the walls holding back the gotham bay water. Gotham city floods which causes the death of uncounted numbers of off screen civilians. The riddler’s goons, despite having a large arsenal of weapons and manpower, fire a single shot at the mayor elect in the wide open and barely manage to injure her.
They fire off more rounds missing completely before batman shows up using more explosives than were ever brought up as possible for him to even have to destroy the very large glass ceiling. Batman fights them and ends up “hanging for his life” three times in the span of 3 minutes.
-By the end, untold numbers of people died, the city is flooded, the movie’s villain sits cozy in jail with his new friend joker, and batman finishes his “its not a phase” phase and is celebrated as a hero.
Wait to stream it or rent it for a dollar. Dont watch this in theatres
