A definite watch, Paatal-Lok touches to every aspect of current socio-economic-political situation in India. Every episode is different, every episode adds to the story. Pros - This series has effectively shown 1. Police politics 2. Child abuse, crime & abject poverty in urban slums 3. Exploitation of Low Castes (SC, OBC etc) 4. Anti-Muslim Bigotry (i ll not call it Islamophobia, this term is faulty) 5. LGBTQ issues 6. Politics in North Indian Hinterlands : mafia-politician nexus 7. News media goof-ups , False-Fake-news 8. Use & abuse of CBI by govt at centre 9. Travesty in judicial process in India etc Cons - 1. It might appear that the High Caste Hindus & Hindutvawadi are the exploiters. By 2-3 examples or set of examples which we read-watch in news media, we can't blame entire Hindu community. Hindu society (including all caste grps) has evolved and will continue to evolve. 2. This series could have focused on extremism in Minority grp but they simply showed them as victims. That could have balanced the story in this Hinduphobia-Islamophobia battle fought over this series. Overall I enjoyed this series, well done to entire star cast, directors, producers and the entire team.
