The thing about war is we tend to feel disconnected from those experiencing it, but to read her diary her thoughts and feelings her family and friends you get the feeling this girl could have been in my class, she could be my friend. Reading a 14 year old girl narrate her experience of one of the most horrible periods in history, while also being optimistic about life and having a youthful disposition.
