Sweet, nostalgic, beautiful. One can see it's somebody's memories that were filmed. There are no sharp edges. There's a lot of sugar in the mix. Is it through the eyes of young Kenneth? Because if it was, everything could be justified. But it's unclear. Married life, parenthood and working class in the middle of war looking so sweet. Nice but..

Right from its title to the first half hour I mamaged to watch this has to be one of the most pretentious films I've ever tried to watch.

Why aren't there more films like this? With the elegance and sophistication that this film has. Nothing pretentious, silent like a whisper yet grabbing you from the first second to the last. It reminds me of Lean's Brief Encounter. Performances are great. Both Julianne Moore and Feinnes are excellent, but for me it's Rea that manages to deliver a really exquisite character.

To dare not to be deliriously excited when everybody loves this film is not for the weak at heart. It is the second time I watch Amelie and I kind of remembered why I was not so excited the first time. In fact I was bored by what seemed like a repetition of activity and annoyed by the persistant meddling of the leading character into people's lives. I didn't see the magic, I wasn't allured by the imagination. I usually like French films. Just not this one.

Here we go. Making didactic films now about what's right and wrong. Nah thanks. Pass.

It is like I'm watching an embroidery been made. Stitch by stitch, colour by colour I anticipate for the final picture while at the same time I don't want it to end.

I was able to painstakingly watch 37 minutes of this film waiting for something clever to interrupt the hyperactive pace and the goofy scenario. But it didn't happen. I understand a lot of people liked it. I guess I'm not one of them.

Following the money in this case takes you face to face with the injustice of our social system. Who is the badie and who's the nice guy? A film about turning the system upside down and keeping a smile while doing it.
