Wildlife of Central India is first of its kind of publication. Central India is a myriad geopolitical delimited region defined by cross-section of Thar desert, scrub plains of northern India, Gangetic plains, Chotta Nagpur Plateau, Vindhayanchal, Satpura Hills, Aravalli Hills and ancient landscape of deccan traps. All this complex cross over episode of confluences the Indo-Malayan and Palaearctic elements. Hence, this region boasts appreciable variety of floral and faunistic elements. Over all this book serves dual purpose of being a field guide (till date best one) and pointing out latest known limits of distribution of many species especially invertebrates. Arthropods in general have not been recognised as flag ship species for wildlife tourism, WOCI (Wildlife of Central India) suffices the awareness of diversity of invertebrates. The text, spacing and general design of book is convenient as per field guide standards. As far as price is concerned. judging by quality and quantitative content, it is fine. Moreover, efforts by authors in gathering mammoth data and claiming it for wildlife guide is appreciated. WOCI is highly recommended for any one who is working on wildlife of Central India.

This is a wonderful book, perfect for wildlife. It is true to its name as the authors have taken a lot of time to study about the subjects of the book. Taxonomic nomenclature, distribution and photographic presentation in this book by authors deserves appreciation. I believe, the number of species accounted in the book are enough to generate interest in young generations for wildlife and its preservation. The wildlife covered in the book covers fauna of Western Ghats, Eastern Ghats and other complex geographic landscapes of deccan. Moreover, the description to explain the species in concise and to the point. I wish the authors good luck for more such needed work ahead.
