I bought the book series after half watching the film, thought the story was interesting and wanted to know what happens next..... The writing is a bit clunky. The conversation is really odd. Not how anyone, let alone teenagers, talk. I'm 71 pages into the first book. I'm annoyed I bought the series as now I feel I have to push on and finish them. I'm having to change alot of the dialogue in my head as I read, so that it flows better. Clary especially comes off as a bit of dick, she seems really rude and condescending. I'm not sure I can get behind her as a main character.
