Interesting up to a point. The interweaving of the choices by the principal characters is too convoluted.

An enjoyable film. Matt Damon turns in a delightful performance. Viola Davis gets to be firm and take-no-guff, another fine performance on her part

The characters are flat. The dialogue is very cliched. The acting is stilted. Julia Garner’s Anna is either exuding icy arrogance or extra-tearful fragility. Sigh. Wish I had not wasted any time watching this

Olivia Coleman does a fine job. The story, though, is hardly a new one. Watching it made me think that Doris Lessing’s *The Golden Notebook* (1962) does much of the same revealing of “women’s”/“woman’s” life, interior and exterior.
