On the one hand it has a more polished fighting system than Origins, on the other hand it feels like they are really trying to force you to buy Time savers, and have moved largely away from stealth gameplay.
Another problem is the lack of impact your war effort will have. You really only change the color of the occupying forces, and its really not that rewarding because it doesn't feel meaningful.
Romance is also pointless because it doesn't change anything as its only touched on in the time that you are romancing them and then it basically either gives you crew, does the most minor or story development, or even any follow up dialogue. Making it kinda meaningless.
Also Ubisoft breaking their own lore never ceases to impress.
Layla and the modern day stuff is more boring than it was in Origins, making the fact that they want to pull you out and remind you "Hey you're playing a character from history not the present day character lets go back to the modern day to remind you," which is a pain.
It's alright, and does clean up some of the systems of origins, but its not amazing as an Assassin's creed game.
