Probably one of the best vampire books I've ever read outside of Anne Rice's series. Story is character-driven, fast-paced, and realistic. Not as heavily reliant on narrative description to set the scene or overuse of description, but just the right amount. Definitely scary, but more along the lines of Stephen King's Salem's Lot. I absolutely recommend this story to readers disillusioned by Twilight. The author absolutely proves what a good YA vampire book is capable of. In my humble opinion, Sarah Stafford has redeemed the vampire genre through her writing. Can't wait to read the sequel! A+++ recommendation
