Terrible! The actors look nothing like the actual people. Lincoln looks like he's thirty, and who is that person that answers to the name of Longstreet. Are you kidding me????? Much heresay, and most importantly the miniseries makes Grant out to be the only union general with a brain. Also not true. I am more of a 'he was a butcher' person than a genius. Grant won the war, yes but he and Sherman did not win it alone. Meade, Sheridan, Hancock, Thomas just to name a few certainly are much more important than the miniseries makes them out to be.
I also found the presentation boring. In fact, I dozed off in the middle of the second episode. There are several interesting historians speaking namely Smith and Chernow but for me that's about it. Dowds said Wilderness was a tactical loss. Huh? Casualties were proportionate on both sides and neither side gained anything. It was a blood bath that had no positive impact on either side. Don't just take it from me read Gordon Rhea wonderful book.
The battle scenes are entertaining but the age of some of the reenactors and uniforms are inaccurate.
I still have part three to go so hopefully it will get better.
On the whole, I am extremely disappointed.
