This is John's spouse reporting: First ran across Edith Templeton in a book of collected travel essays by Eric Newby. Ms. Templeton's piece made me laugh aloud. Reading her books is like getting a prep school education in classics and history along with humorous asides. She must have been a very interesting woman. Luckily, you can still find her books in libraries and at used book sellers. Highly recommended for the arm chair traveler or anyone with a sense of humor who does not believe in the patriarchal paradigm.
