Basic Human Kindness: Michael & Sara make such a great team; they obviously have great chemistry and they are both such genuine people. I was watching last week when Michael was asking Sara what her favorite act of kindness was. Michael stated that his was just being kind to someone, smiling at people and saying hello. Michael, I couldn't agree more! I moved back to my hometown after being away for 25 years. Our main place to shop is Walmart (of course), the economy is bad and people are always grumpy and rude. I get it, I'm currently unemployed and it's hard to get by in a small town that offers little opportunity. Every time I go to Walmart, I make a point of smiling and saying "Hi" to people, holding the door, letting someone go first, etc., just using the basic good manners that I was raised with. You would not believe the reactions I get! It's so unexpected that it takes them a minute to realize someone is being genuinely kind! Especially from the seniors in our community that have all but given up on basic human decency (how sad is that?!). It makes my day every time just to see the change in their expression and demeanor and to know that I've at least added a small bright spot into someone's day... and it doesn't cost a thing.
