This film was just OK. My strongest reaction to it is that it should have been classified as fantasy. Given the time period it was set in and the misogynistic and racial obstacles unwed pregnant women and people of color would have faced (and still do), the film seems to reimagine a reality that could have been for the women characters. It's an artificial world with just superficial character and story development. Madmen is more realistic and much better done.
