Good thing I didn't believe the 38% Rotten Tomatoes score because damn was it a good movie. The movie uses the boring "camera swing to far ghost, camera swing to actor, camera swing to slightly nearer ghost, swing to actor" shtick, but I thought the movie was interesting enough so that I didn't quite mind the unoriginal scares. The story became a pleasant surprise even though I could never have guessed until the scene leading to the dusty basement. The twist until the ending made me think "Oh no, is this one of the Brightburn characters in that news report ending" but I guess not.
Probably one of the best 2019 horror movies I've watched. Not the best, but one of.
