For all those that think this movie is slow and lacks substance, you should watch more foreign films. This movie is very real. I personally know ex-cons and the portrayal of the difficult choices the main character has are real. I laugh when several reviewers complain about the consequences of laws being broken. I guess because this is a drama they don't apply the same rule to other action movies, where the protagonists break laws all the time and are not punished. This movie tugs at the heartstrings. It uses pauses effectively and elongates scenes, but if you're in the right mindset, you'll get it. If you expect a Hollywood style modern drama, check your expectations. If you have an open mind, this movie will make you ponder about life, choices, consequences, and the difficult and sometimes sad road that other humans may be on.
