Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan talks about a very conventional story of a love triangle and relationships. Portraits updated look at love, romance and relationships. Love is patient, love is kind, But love is also messy,fragile, and frenetic – all at the same time. In Manmarziyaan, Anurag Kashyap manages to beautifully navigate the lanes between these two kinds of love almost as lyrically as camera sifts through the narrowest alleys and lanes of Punjab. Our Heroin Rumi(Pannu) neither perfect nor do the makers aspire to make her so. Her femininity is flawed, and there is so much beauty in it. Her curls are as madly untamed as her heart, and neither of the love-struck men in her life want to reign this wildness in. Indeed that is the reason these men know she is worth everything. Rumi’s first love is Vicky(kaushal), With his blue hair, Jim Morrison tees and overabundance of energy, there is just too much intensity in Vicky, especially when he is with Rumi. Their love is mad, passionate, infectious and volatile. Their love is physical, it's raw and still never denied the honour. Rumi and Vicky’s love is full of a youthful aggression that threatens to burn their world down. Like But when Rumi meets Rajbir(AB) . Their moments together are full of so much tenderness and stillness that you can actually feel your heart calming down and nestling in a warm corner. The scene where Taapsee and Abhishek have a long exchange of dialogue is pure cinematic delight. Vicky is a tremendous performer who has given brilliant performance. Amit Trivedi’s music elevates the emotions in the film to a large degree. Use of Amrita Pritam’s final love poem ‘Main Tenu Phir Milangi” Gives us the goosebumps when whispered in Rumi’s voice. There’s also two pair of twins comes on the screens can be read as a reflection of the duality of love. Perhaps this is because love is also a little bit of a bhootiya affair at the end of the day. Even in love, we behave like possessed old souls, being tortured and torturing others. 1st half of the movie hold the interest totally, but 2nd half seems too long and slow. It would be more delightfull to watch If the movie length maintained between one & half hour. Manmarziyaan is a journey that may not appeal to everyone, but those who have had broken hearts and managed to nurse back together all the pieces once adulthood came along, may find consolation in this one.
