Is this my favorite Trials game? No.
Is it the best Trials game? I don't think so.
Does it have some issues that have been there since release? Yes.
Did it take six months to add some features that were already in Fusion? Yes.
Does it have a terrible track selection menu? Yes.
Does it have a lot of grinding requirements to get to the later stages? Definitely.
But this game has a couple of things that the others don't which are nice, and it also has some additions that I don't like.
I have been playing Trials since Evolution came out on the 360 and loved it. In my opinion, Evolution is really what Trials is and should be. Rising has returned (thank god) to the realistic, gritty art-style and by far has the best graphics, and has a great bike and rider customization system. Rising also has by far the best tutorial system. Also Rising has the biggest selection of unique bikes, although I do think the Turtle bike is kind of an insult to those that play seriously.
Thing that I really don't like about Rising are medals being focused on only time, while faults were equated to 5 seconds, this makes sense for medium and most hard tracks, but for extreme and ninja tracks it doesn't make sense. The map track selection is extremely disorganized, and a bike (or rather shopping cart) is locked behind acorns, the games paid currency.
I do not like the soundtrack of this game, but at least it doesn't have the atrocious opening song that Fusion has. the UI isn't great either. the whole "loot box" system is completely unnessasary instead of simply buying the items you want in the past games.
If you are getting into Trials, this is a great game. although I think there's still a lot to get out of playing Evolution Gold Edition and I guess Fusion too
(if you are considering getting into Trials, a controller is a MUST, unless you are IBlubbiI)
If you already are a fan of Trials, you probably already have it anyway, but you are probably better off playing your ninja tracks in Fusion.
Or you could be like me and still beg Redlynx to release the Trials Evolution DLC on PC
