I recently started watching this show on Antenna TV. This is another show I remember in its original run on ABC back in the early 1970's. It's also another old show that I didn't pay much attention to at the time. Paul Lynde seemed out of place playing a father in a traditional sitcom. But, his career had soared after playing the father in "Bye Bye Birdie" , so I guess they were trying to capitalize on that. The show is a bit dated, of course, but the writing isn't too bad. Many well-remembered legendary character actors pop up in the episodes. The series on lasted one season. The main attraction was Paul Lynde who was ALWAYS funny even with bad material. But, his dialogue is pretty sharp in this show which leads me to suspect Lynde may have written some of his own lines.
