This movie is directionless, confused, and written by a second grader. The movie is just bad enough to not be something you can laugh at watching with friends, and not nearly good enough to be tolerable. Several details and plotlines are started and referenced, but are never touched on again. In the end, everything is solved because the kid did a dance and that fixed his relationships with everyone, solves every problem, and saved the writers the need to write actual character arcs.
One on hand, I think maybe if the movie had more runtime, they could fix their massive pacing issues and actually resolve the plot, which is barely there, in a meaningful and fulfilling way. On the other hand, I really don’t want that to happen. I would not be able to watch another half hour of that movie. Normally, one might give up plot for humor or motifs or sole kind of underlying theme. This movie does none of those things. It’s not funny, every filler scene drags on way too long, and every important scene - well, there are no important scenes. It’s just an endless void of grudgingly carrying on through an abyss that is empty of any kind of entertainment.
Tldr I could make a better movie if I did not own a camera.
