The movie (in my opinion) depicted Hardin and Tessa’s relationship in a somewhat superficial way compared to the book. The scenes felt rushed and I think an extra half an hour could have added a lot more to After. In the book their relationship was passionate and chaotic and the characters were much more complex. Hardin had a hard time letting himself completely fall in love with Tessa, and would constantly battle with cutting himself off emotionally because he felt so many intense emotions towards her. Tessa’s mother was supposed to be very uptight and as a result, her relationship with Tessa suffered. Also the acting could have been better. The actors probably didn’t read the book and it shows. The essence of the characters weren’t captured.Things as small as this could have been added to make the movie more authentic to the book and feel slightly longer (but in a good way). The movie was sweet and it was a nice watch but it could have been done better.
