I never read the book but knowing it was a famous literary work I took my 14 year old daughter and wife. Big mistake - this movie sucks. My daughter was completely disinterested after 15 minutes and spent the next two hours begging to leave. I was also ready to leave after an hour but my wife felt like we were invested at that point so we had to see it through. The story itself is extremely boring and pretentious. I assume the book is better but to make it fit in a painful 2 hours and 15 minutes they had to keep jumping around from past to present to the point that you couldn't even follow what was going on. I have no idea how this movie received good reviews - I'm being honest it sucks.
