Don’t read any reviews before you go to see the movie. Interesting concept. Janet McTeer is a highly underrated actress.

Halle Barry did a very good job in a physically and emotionally demanding role. Adriane Lenox was tremendous as her mother. Halle Berry directed as well. Very gritty movie that was brutal at times but felt very real. Only thing I’d say is that Halle Berry is probably a little too old for the role which eroded credibility a little bit. The role would have been a little more realistic if the lead was in her 30’s. Halle Berry is quite a few years past her 30’s and it showed especially since her costars /peers are probably in the mid-30’s. Small quibble and it was a juicy role. Her work in it was stronger than in Monsters Ball for which she won an Oscar. I could see a nomination for her.
