Just a lot of fun, mindless entertainment. Don’t go looking for deep meaning, and turn off your issues with the social politics of the actors, or simply don’t go if that’s an important factor for you. That’s not why you go to see a Marvel superhero movie, I think. It’s all about good guys, bad guys, plot twists, explosions, humor, inside references, and Easter eggs. Plenty of all that here. I really don’t care if the characters are male, female, or alien, if it’s a fun ride that adequately maintains suspension of disbelief. In that sense, my only complaint is the Skrulls—really cheap-looking makeup, à la Star Trek human-except-weird-heads style, with ears that looked like plastic children’s Halloween props. Surely Marvel could afford to do a better job there....
