Despite losing a child in a gun accident due to the father's neglect to secure his gun while he sleeps, his idea of a birthday gift for his older son is a rifle. It isn't until the very end when you find out "why" there are protesters, anarchy and lack of government involvement. A character says their city is one of the only ones to successfully resist disarmament. Not impressed.
