I just can't stop myself watching the repeats even though I've seen them so many times. I try to pretend I don't remember the twists at the end. The early ones are, of course, so much better. I cannot be the only fan who wonders why the romance never flowered between Sam and Andrew Foyle. The change of lover was almost a rupture. Why was Andrew written out? Did Ovended get a better offer? The subsequent marriage of Sam to the rather wet politician never really worked. Can anyone relieve me of my misery?

Strongly recommend you catch this exquisitely directed and acted movie. Your only chance as it may not go on general release.

Watched this slow-starting but ultimately mesmerising film on Netflix and can't understand why it has not had a general release. Nighy is wonderful...and the film is a revealing insight into class and culture in provincial fifties England.
