Karwaan is a very simple and heartwarming movie 💖which didn’t get it’s due credit. I personally watched the film only because of Irrfan khan :p and obviously without any expectations. But I was wrong. It established a lasting impression on me and also it made me hold a smile on my face throughout the movie .A dark comedy showcasing some parts of three individuals lives which leads to self-discovery, love, death, the relation between us and our parents also their importance in our lives and identifying that we as human are not as different from each other as we assume to be.
This beautiful movie is based on a road trip from Bangalore to kochi which took place due to misplacement of two dead bodies by an inefficient company. The reason for this film’s standing out and being unique is the misfits that somehow crosses paths and joint the journey whom we would never imagine to hangout or to go on a road trip with as we are used to witness road trip movies like "Dil chahta hai" or "Zindagi na milegi dobara" etc. where the main characters were friend or we can say had a backstory together and were from same walks of lives.
The main lead 'Avinash' beautifully played by Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan is a very relatable character being a simple guy working in a boring job that he doesn’t like and still dreams of his passion that he had left behind. Popular webserise actor Mithilla Palker plays 'Tania', a rebellious and extrovert college student. Both the characters learn and grow throughout the film by interacting with each other and sharing their individual opinion on any topic , judging it in their own ways and later on understanding each other’s perspectives leading to become a better person at the end. And lastly the funny character 'Shaukat' brilliantly played by Irrfan Khan is definitely the one who stole the show. Shaukat is a garrulous fellow, exceedingly old fashioned in many respects and for the most part, immensely funny. Criticizing everyone he comes across and making fun of every situation he is in is truly hilarious. Irrfan’s dialogue delivery is a killer as always. He undoubtedly possesses the most challenging role in this movie. All of them had complex relationship with their fathers while growing up which is a unavoidable part of their lives.
Apart from the actors, the cinematography and the dialogues of the movie really stand out and can said to be the other heroes of movie. I really liked the locations they shot, the colours and also the camera tricks they used. Even the tiffney blue Van they travelled in maximum scenes really stood out on those beautiful locations . This movie truly captured moments with ease by powerful dialogues, brilliant acting and great camera angles in every situations. This movie has got some really amazing songs. They are very clam and charming and with very meaningful lyrics as well. My favorite is kadam by prateek kuhad and also the cute and funny song that was being played in the background when Irrfan khan's character Shaukat was trying to impress his new love interest. The song mixed Urdu and English in a really funny yet sweet way which was a great fit for shaukat's funny character 😊. In some cases, a movie is really good at the beginning but as it progresses it losses its charm and leads to a bad ending. But Karwaan also did Justice on that part. Truly this movie was worth a watch 😀👌.
And lastly Dulquer Salmaan is really cute 😍.
