An actual review, opposed to the sarcastic ones everyone keeps posting.
This movie is NOT in favor of child exploitation. It's the exact opposite.
It depicts a very very common phenomenon. My childhood wasn't far from it, either. 10 year old girls would wear short shorts, talk about sex, watch porn. I felt entirely out and forced myself to become part of this disgusting culture.
This movie hit me in the core. It shows the insecurity, the way peer pressure sucks you in. The way adults see it and let it slide. This is all VERY REAL.
This poor girl wanted friends. Her family's situation was terrible. She felt trapped, and lonely. She rebelled out of pure insecurity. She wanted a change, and saw that glamour as "freedom of speech", not even realizing she's being manipulated. This movie shows just how easy it is to get sucked into this horrible culture. It's inescapable.
I was a child, like her. I witnessed these things and they were common and even at school they were barely discussed. The teachers didn't do anything to put an end to this behavior. They let it all slide. I witnessed it all thinking this is just how children are.
Children are vulnerable, and need to be protected. What the other reviewers here with the sarcastic comments don't understand is that this movie is SCREAMING to put an end to the sexualization of kids.
