I knew this movie would be trash going into it but it somehow managed to go above and beyond and be even more godawful than I could have possibly expected. This was Doom for maybe 5 minutes and then the main character showed up with her posse of loser marines with one dimensional personalities and anything Doom related aside from setting and nods to the game went right out the window. Why is it that the best we can get out of Doom movies is some zombies and one or two types of demons? What's with the lame horror movie angle? A Doom movie should be constant action and demon slaying, not petty squabbles between pathetic excuses for "highly trained" military personnel. Remember that time in Doom (not 3, that one was a joke) when you, Doomguy, talked to your team about fanning out and securing perimeters or whatever? Of course not. You were too busy wiping the floor with hordes of demons all by yourself with a shotgun and being so angry that Hell could literally not contain you. On the topic of Doomguy, what's with the female lead? I don't care about female leads in movies one way or another, and there are a lot of video game movies alone that do it well (Tomb raider) but at least stick to the source material. Doom stuff aside, the actual movie itself was terrible. The acting sucked. The special effects weren't the worst but they looked like special effects in the worst way. The writing was horrible. The ending was a cliffhanger. A cliffhanger! As if anyone wants to sit through another one of these! Would give 0/5 if I could. Too much suck, not enough Doom. No wonder id software and Bethesda didn't want any part of it.
