I had to read this book for my English class, and I don't think I would have read it otherwise. There was no true plot, which was mentioned on other ratings. When you finally get a glimpse at what could be the lead to a climax, it's ignored and something else happens. It's like a hodge podge of different mini stories that all somewhat relate. Not my favorite thing to read. Also, the characters were all quite bland, and it bothered me how much romantic tension there was for the main character only being eleven-twelve years old. I think the book would have been much better if Julia was fifteen to sixteen years old instead. Not to mention, what's going on in the story seems absolutely terrifying and being so young when this is happening, I feel like Julia's response was just too calm. The whole thing about Julia was that she always worries and gets anxious, but then she goes and risks her life for no reason! She gains nothing! I pictured her to be responsible because she always is concerned, but then she breaks laws and gets in danger? I honestly don't understand.
I will say, the descriptions on this book were alright, but I'm not the biggest fan.
