Ever wondered why did he choose self destruction over an ordinary life . Well my thought is a little different from previous comment i might be wrong in my interpretation ,i think that his life purpose was to become an ascetic but raadhey does not wants to acknowledge it so he compensates by taking intoxicants , behaving violently and doing whatever he wants to . He has no association with materialistic things such as money and even listening to his elders everything was good until he meets nirjara a freshman student who recites a poem even after nobody appreciates it his eyes are filled with tears though no ordinary man would have such a reaction when nirjara tells the meaning of her name he smiles because now he slowly starts to begin his journey to ascetic and the way he asks for gujiya maybe he is training himself to beg and eat even though he does not listen to any elders and friends he follows the insructions of a stranger ascetic which is not a normal behaviour of an immoral man he could have ignored him and run away but he did not i personally think nirjala is the representation of battle between materialistic and spiritual thoughts she encourages him to first live like an ordinary man maybe it was god's wish to send him to shivpurdham instead of being treated at hospital that is why he sends these goons to beat him violently so that he can come as an ascetic and remind him of his higher purpose we never saw him after he returns there or before this incident . His parents also choose to send him to shivpurdham instead of tresting him in a city mental hospital because in a dream god must have informed them of his great plan and after realising this they tearfully send him there . Even though he is normal still he wants to live at arogyaaashram he wants to learn about patients lifestyle and their pain he learns a life lesson as the last materialistic experience before becoming an ascetic , towards the end nirjara cries after knowing that he has been choosen to become an ascetic she cries and is not able to bear this painful truth and as a resultant commits suicide after he escapes from shivpurdham and comes back he finds her dead hence he again becomes indifferent and returns back to his mission of asceticism hence leaving all his parents and friends. God also sets his path full of obstcles so that he realises how much he has to struggle while moving forward when nirjara translates the meaning of her name she tells him that the soul becomes malevolent because of constraints it can only be destroyed by practicing tapa unknowingly she describes about he should do exactly however his friends , his lover even his parents try every means to stop him but nothing can be done as he is already chosen another instance is that when nirjara walks over aarogyaaashram raadhey does not open his eyes but when she is about to leave he requests the ascetic cum incharge to meet her but he ignores him it is a clear indication that god wants him to overcome all tempatations to fullfil his mission and burn all his materiastic karma to prepare himself for ascetic life. i think instead of title TERE NAAM it should be A Guide To Ascetic Life. Also to mention the girl who was mentally challenged is a form of Lord Durga and Lord Laxmi mixed she was testing him whether he is suitable for an ascetic life or not.
