Sorry but I didn’t buy into the hype. I get that the film stayed on message and I understand the point the director was trying to make. It was abundantly clear. I simply wasn’t truly surprised by anything that happened. Cinematography was good, the direction was OK and the acting wasn’t subpar. But in my opinion the film wasn’t better than the other pictures it eclipsed to win the Oscar. I enjoyed 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood more. Enjoyable enough and worth watching but certainly not as good to me as so many others here have proclaimed.
