I am in the middle of reading this beautiful book.
For anyone who has an interest in the foster father of Jesus I believe it is a serious depiction of who the man of Joseph was. The author is an authority on him. I am finding it extremely interesting as the story unfolds because it is bringing to the fore the reality of all the feast day celebrations I had attended in my youth when living still at home and then on occasion in my adult life. One does not ever stop learning and this book is highlighting the closeness that one can have of him who was the protector and provider of Jesus and Mary, His devoted mother, whom we Catholics call our Mother too. I am just proud as punch to be gifted with this book. It is a hand-me-down for the version I have was in the possession of a woman who was entering a nursing home and the family was off loading much of her possessions. It is still in pristine condition for it seems the lady had never read it. It was bought in Udine, from the bookshop called Libreria Edizioni Paoline. This bookshop used to exist in my home town, but like all things, when the faith starts to abate so too sales and thus the inevitable closure happens. Now one can order books on line, but I used to enjoy taking myself off to the city to look through the bookstore with the plethora of Catholic sacramentals and statues, pictures of saints, Rosaries and books as well as have a chat to the Pauline nuns. All good things come to an end...but an end it really is not for our true home is in Heaven. For some Heaven can wait for others like me who lost her mother earlier this year 2020, it can't! But my family needs me too so I mustn't rush things, all in God's time.
