I loved the book, the movie I'm on the fence about. This story has a lot of inward struggle going on in it that most likely was really hard to convey outwardly in a film. I felt a good deal of the tension, anxiety, sadness, and other emotion was missing. The deeper relationships were on the surface. You don't see how sad Theo is over his mother. You don't feel quite the connection to Boris. And Theo's great love of his life felt more like a brief acquaintance. I also felt the adult Boris was an odd casting. It's a long book, so cramming it into a movie must have been a tough undertaking. I still needed to see it because the book was great. I'm glad I watched it, but probably wont again.
