Pretty lackluster TV effort with periodic glimpses of quality. Nicholas Meyer's direction struggles with terribly underwritten script that in spite of all the mayhem still feels like a made for TV movie.
Skip The Day After and check out British 1984 film Threads which covers pretty much the same territory , but with such a grim and unflinching effect that the images will haunt you for a very long time.

Dull "comedy" series which seems to have been inspired by 2018 Swedish film Aniara. While Aniara is definitely not a comedy, neither is Avenue 5.
