I was really excited for this video game. I saw some of the first developments and playthroughs of it, and Visage finally released on PS4. Although the horror, graphics, and story are good and well designed, I was extremely disappointed in the game play.
The controls were too obscured, there was no indication on what to do next. I've been in Delores game for almost 7 hours. I don't like the back and forth, the storage items, and all the damn pieces I need to collect to advance the story. It really takes away from the horrific atmosphere.
And, I really adore puzzle games, but this one, was so tedious! And as much tediousness I went through, I only got 3 good scares of Delores, her peeking around the corner, crawling on the floor, crawling on the roof. The rest of it was just getting stabbed by her numerous times just coming out of a room.
The autosaves were all over the place. I almost rage quit after dying numerous times and having to do almost EVERYTHING over numerous times.
The game did warn me that it was hard, but this is ridiculous! Limbo was hard, but it was still enjoyable. And I shouldn't have to look up a walkthrough, most of the game, to figure out what to do next.
I'm going to have a hard time finishing this game, if the rest of the chapters are like this.
If you like tedious, repetitive puzzles, with a simple story, and occasional horror scares, this is for you. If not, play Soma.
