Stepford Wives meets Metaverse. I want to give this movie 4 stars for the cinematography and the acting, but the plot that seems to jump off a cliff and slit its own throat in the last 30 minutes, knocks this down to 3 stars for me. I wanted more details about how. I won’t even go into the completely unsatisfactory ending.

I watched 45 minutes of this pointless movie and decided it wasn’t worth wasting any more time. I did read a few other reviews while I was watching that helped me reach that conclusion. In short, this guy spends every hour of the day wasted, watches his wife die after some unexplained accident where they both were wasted, finds out he doesn’t get any of her money (she’s rich) until he publishes a book. Oh, he’s supposed to be some sort of author. There is nothing entertaining about this movie except for a few Jimmy Buffett songs, and why he agreed to be part of this is another mystery.

Disappointed. Usually I can watch Disney movies over and over. This is a one and done for me. I didn’t feel a connection to any of the characters and the script was only mediocre.

If you are looking for a lighter comedy, keep looking. This movie was more of a dark comedy with a cast full of characters completely devoid of any sense of morality. I gave it 3 stars because the acting and the story line were interesting but it’s not one I would recommend to anyone.

This movie was billed as a comedy? It’s not a comedy. There are some moderately amusing moments but some of those were actually kind of sad. That said it’s not a bad movie but more of a slice of life drama. The characters are enjoyable and well acted. The plot was fine but it did meander down a few story lines that never get resolved. It ended on an upbeat note but I had unanswered questions. Now if Hollywood would please make more actual comedies that aren’t brainless bro flicks or sappy romance stories, it would be awesome.

Too much angst and depression. This movie was billed as a comedy-drama. I have no idea what happened to the comedy because there was nothing funny here. It was filled with a bunch of totally unlikable bored rich people with no idea what life is about. I wanted to find any character that I liked. Even the unaffected young dancer/call girl didn’t have enough personality to make me give a damn about her. I spent most of the movie waiting for Kathryn Hahn to wash and brush her hair. I almost stopped watching several times but I stuck with it waiting for the punch line. It came at the end with a surprise happy ending that didn’t fit with the rest of the movie at all. Don’t waste your time.

I somehow missed seeing Heathers all those years ago. Several friends recently encouraged me to watch it. They said I would like it. These friends must not know me very well. I only made it through 45 minutes before I turned it off and I had to force myself to get that far. The script and the acting was stiff. The characters were completely contrived and wholly unlikable and unbelievable, even the minor characters. I kept thinking it was going to get better but it just kept getting worse. Yes, there were mean girls when I was in school - shocker, there are always mean girls and mean boys and the rest of us muddle through. Cult classic? That's one nasty cult. I'll be over here with the Rocky Horror folks.

Let me preface this review by saying, I pretty much knew what I was getting into based on the trailers, but I love campy thrillers. The sad part is, that unlike some others of its ilk, this movie really wanted to be taken seriously. I found myself laughing out loud a few times. My biggest beef with this movie is that it was painfully dark through more than half the movie. I don’t mean dark as in depressing; I mean dark as in you can’t see what’s going on! This movie is everything you’d expect of a low budget monster movie. They try to give you back story on the characters in weird places and the Dad’s acting was over-the-top. The only character I really cared about was the dog. There are lose, disjointed pieces of the storyline that are never resolved. There are scenes and situations that are so completely implausible they could rival Sharknado for silliness. If you liked Piranha and Lake Placid you’ll love Crawl.
