An astonishing book that horse racing's authorities would rather had not been published, because it details a scandal they tried to sweep under the mat.
Jamie Reid has done a wonderful job exposing the chicanery that lurks just below the surface in the so-called Sport of Kings. Something that might not have been caught for much longer had the dopers not got greedy and tried to nobble one of the Queen Mother's horses.
Over the years I have met many of the players. But none (apparently it seems because they were so embarrassed) have ever talked about this very dark period in British horse racing. Quite amazing.
