I am so disappointed. I was rooting so much for this film (because of Fazura, huge fan here).
The cinematic is perfect, can see a lot of effort being put in the setting. The village, the city, the attires. All very classic and very relevant. But I cannot say the same to the dialogues. It’s very generic, and I don’t think the people back in the days talk like that. At least, not from how I saw they talked in classic movies like P Ramlee’s.
There’s no interesting plot twist. Like; at all. Not even a bit scary. I mean, it’s cool that at some point we can see she on top of house roof, there’s some creep to that but that was that. The writers had so much chance and opportunity to make something bigger out of this but they failed to expand it. Shame, since pontianak is a very very iconic folklore in Malaysia. They could easily hit big but they wasted it.
Don’t we all miss the ol’ good Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam?
